What we were working on
A tool that enables organizations to gain a deeper understanding of their operational processes and make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
What I did
In May 2022 Pega acquired the Brazilian company Evergreen to add Process Mining capabilities to the Pega Platform. I was leading the migration efforts of the Evergreen acquisition to the Pega design system for which we had roughly 3 months available (including testing).
- Audited 100+ screens, scoped and prioritized the effort in tandem with scrum team
- Established communication channels and rituals for integrating the new team into established processes
- Devised and proposed prioritized strategy, and aligned with Product Manager
- Broke down the work in sizable and synergetic blocks of work
- Prepared documents with instructions for aligning with the Pega design system
- Provided instructions in how to align all data visualization capabilities with Pega data visualization
- Reviewed progress frequently and provided timely feedback
- Scheduled pair programming/pair designing sessions for difficult parts
- Communicated regularly with Product Manager, Developer, QA engineer
- Conducted final review
Outcome
On User experience level
- Evergreen users get their first experience with the Pega design system and interaction patterns and can get acquainted with them
- Pega users new to process mining will feel in a familiar environment, where they can focus on learning the new capabilities.
On organizational/Strategic level
- Delivered process mining application consisting of 100 screens and 3-4x more formatting elements and patterns within 3 months and timely prior to GA on the Pega Design System
